Hematite, goethite or Oligiste, is a mineral made up of oxide iron III - Its formula is Fe2O3.

It is a mineral very available, of black color, gray silver plated, brown or red. If it is reduced on powder, hematite, whatever its variety, gives reds glares.

The name of "hematite" is borrowed from Latin "haematites", even borrowed of the Greek “haematites”, word derived which comes from a word meaning “blood”. The hematite powder was used as red pigment.
