Moroccan septaria
Nice and decorative Moroccan Septaria from Oujda (Oriental Region) which shrinkage cracks are filled with white Calcite. Polished from one side.
“Septarians” or “Septaria” (singular: “Septarium”) are an unusual type of lenticular to bulb-shaped concretions. They are formed in calcareous mudstone, when cracks appear in the nodule due to shrinkage, and are filled with crystals deposited from percolating brines. The Septarian slices come from Morocco.
These pieces have a size enabling them to be fitted into boxes of 4 cm x 4 cm x 3 cm.
