"Septarians" or "Septaria" (singular: "Septarium") are an unusual type of lenticular to bulb-shaped concretions. They are formed in calcareous mudstone, when cracks appear in the nodule due to shrinkage, and are filled with crystals deposited from percolating brines. The Septarian slices come from Morocco.
